Point Lobos A Rare Beauty On Big Sur Coast

Point Lobos on the Big Sur Coast of California. The circular shapes are called concretions and are formed by erosion. This is just one of a few pristine locations along the largely burned over, denuded Big Sur Coast and inland for miles. If you are fortunate, you may see some California Condors around McWay, if fires haven't burned their habitat. For really pristine coasts, visit the Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte and Southern Oregon coasts. Don't waste your time on the Big Sur Coast, which is far, far, far, far overrated.
